Google Editions - Bookstore in a Cloud
Most likely launching in July, Chris Palma, Google’s manager for strategic-partner development, presented Google Editions during a panel at publisher Random House.
From the Library Journal:
“Palma described web-based cloud computing as a third major step in computing, after the mainframe/PC and the web. ‘Our market, and potential market, is not the people who’ve bought Kindles or iPads,’ Palma said, but rather the 1.8 billion people who access the Internet around the world.”
That is an awesome idea. Really curious to see how this pans out. Books available directly - not by scanning physical books - to everyone who has access to internet around the world? Wow.
Mike Tsang photographed this portrait project of the characters involved in the London rare and antique book trade.
Prepare your eyes for some ogling.
Claude Kuhn, where have you been all of my internet life?
Fantastic poster for “Museumsnacht” where all museums and libraries in Bern, Switzerland stay open long after normal closing hours with special events, parties and presentations.
